National and World Missions Ministry Team
God has been very generous to us at Little Falls, and it behooves us to share our gifts with others who have not been so lucky. Little Falls contributes over 10% of our spending to various missions in the local area, elsewhere in the country, and around the world.
National and World Missions is the ministry team at Little Falls tasked with mission work beyond the local Washington, DC area. We support a number of missions in the United States, South America, Africa, and Asia.
Our missions include several with whom we have a personal relationship, such as:
· Rob MacEwen, who has spent several years as a missionary in Asia and is currently a student at the Dallas Theological Seminary. (see June 2009 letter)
· Meg Lindsay, who is a student at Union Theological Seminary.
· Brad Long, the executive director of Presbyterian-Reformed Ministries International, whose Dunamis Project is aimed at training indigenous leaders to grow the church around the world.
For several years we have been involved with Hope Unlimited, a mission to street children in Brazil. We have recently become involved with the United Orphanage in Kenya, a beacon of hope to children and adults in that war-torn land.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a world-wide leader in missions of various kinds. In addition to PCUSA missions in general, we support Carol and Dan Adams, who teach at a theological seminary in the Republic of Korea; Dr. Barbara Nagy, a medical missionary in Malawi; and Forman Christian College, a leading school of higher education in Pakistan.
The Barnabas Fund is an organization we support whose primary focus is supporting Christians in areas where there are not many Christians and the local Government does not support, or even opposes, Christianity.
Our efforts in the national and international mission front have largely consisted of sending some of our children into the field and providing funds to a few of the many wonderful organizations doing the work of the Lord around the world. A goal we have established is to accompany our financial contribution with actually sending adults to do mission in an area of need. We are currently evaluating how best to do that.
