The most important question:
"Many of us are diligent about studying and planning for our careers, our children’s education, our financial future and our travel and recreation. But not everyone takes the time to study the most important questions of all – “Is there a God, and if so, what are the implications for my life?” Taking time to explore this question is the most important thing anyone can do. We invite you to explore this question with us.
Below is a summarized version of what we believe1. We believe there is a God, and we believe He is the God of the Bible.
2. We believe that God loves us and cares for us. He cares for us so much that He sent his son Jesus to live among us and teach us how to love God and love our neighbor.
3. We believe that Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life for us, dying on the cross for our sins. The Bible says that “For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
The Bible is very clear; all of us are sinners. The truth is that, if we are honest with ourselves, we were all a pitiful mess before we came to saving faith in Christ. Because of our sin we are separated from God. Our hearts are naturally set against God. We want to pursue our selfish desires. But God does not want to leave us in our sin. He has a much richer, more satisfying, more joyful life that He wants to share with us. He doesn’t just want to make us better people. He wants to transform us into entirely new creatures! When we come to faith in Christ we will still struggle with sin, but we will have God’s power to help us overcome sin.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
God wants to transform each of us. Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we can be saved from our sin and reconciled to God. Once we are saved, we believe each of us will begin a journey of transformation, growing into spiritual maturity and becoming more and more like Christ.
As we grow, we are called to share this love with our neighbors here in Arlington, and to others around the world.
Our church includes people who are at all points on the process of spiritual growth. We seek to help people grow through study and obedience to God’s word, through prayer, through the community of fellow believers, through mission service and through the Holy Spirit leading each of us in this journey. Wherever you are in this process, we invite you to join us on this journey as we explore God’s wonderful story of redemption and transformation.
